Your Body LOVES Exercise

August 29, 2017

Our bodies are made to move, but in today's society this is not the case! Humans are sitting a lot more than they ever used to causing all kinds of issues with the human body than ever before.

Your body NEEDS movement, not just to loose weight but for all sorts of important reasons. Regular exercise is needed for physical fitness as well as general good health.

Exercise reduces the risk of heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, arthritis and osteoporosis. It can improve your appearance due to weight loss, overall complexion, toning "flabby bits" on your body and helps to delay the aging process.

If you don't exercise, your muscles will become flabby and weak, your heart and lungs won't function efficiently, and your joints will be stiff and easily injured.

Not only does exercise increase your fitness levels, it also provides amazing benefits for your whole body.

THE BRAIN:

The reason you feel so good after a workout is because of the endorphins you release in your brain. Those endorphins will then improve your mood, causing your stress levels to decrease which will then help you to relax!

YOUR HEART:

Exercise helps to condition your heart and lungs, which helps to reduce your blood pressure and improvement to your blood flow. Just by doing a fast paced walk for 15 minutes every day can help to improve your fitness levels and heart health. EVERY BIT COUNTS!

BONES:

Regular exercise, especially lifting weights has huge benefits for bone density and strength.

Compound exercises such as squats, dead lifts and press are great for bones as are weight bearing exercises like jogging.

SKIN:

When your body is healthy from the inside, it will then start to show on the outside. If you are exercising regular and eating a healthy well balanced diet, your skin will start to glow. You only need to briefly sweat to improve your skin health, like I mentioned before starting with as little as 15 minutes of exercise per day and you will start to see the benefits!

IMMUNITY:

If you are fit, exercise regularly, eat healthy, drink plenty of water and sleep often you are less likely to catch bugs or suffer with a horrible cold in the winter. Even if you do and you are all the above, you will cope a lot better than those who don't do anything to improve their health!

YOUR BACK:

Having an office job (which these days a lot of us do) is bad news for your back, as it will only make your pain worse if you are not active enough outside of the office. If you are in a chair for more than an hour at a time you should be getting up every 20-30 minutes just to stretch or move around for a minute or two (easier said than done I know, but its so important!) Stretching and strength exercises will help you improve your back pain, ask a health and fitness professional to help you with functional strength exercises that will help improve your back pain. If there is something more to your back pain, then seek help from a specialist first.

WEIGHT LOSS:

Of course exercise is going to have an impact on your weight loss goals. Regular movement everyday will pay an important part to getting the results you want! Remember though you can not out run a bad diet so if you are exercising an insane amount and not loosing weight, then it will all come down to your nutrition.

In conclusion exercise is important and shouldn't be avoided. If you "hate" exercise find ways that you are moving your body that you will enjoy such as dancing, playing tennis, indoor netball, swimming, boxing, barre attack, outdoor fitness in a group, one-on-one personal training sessions...There are endless options you just need to find what one suits you best and stick to it.
